A BIT ABOUT ME
My love for all things marine began when I watched my parents learn to SCUBA dive on family holidays. I became fed up of snorkelling above them and completed a PADI Open Water SCUBA course when I was only 10 years old in the Red Sea, Egypt. Despite living in the middle of England I was always fascinated by the ocean and all that it had to offer. During my second year of university on exchange at the University of New South Wales, Australia I realised how much I wanted to pursue further study in marine biology. Ever since reading a paper on trans-generational acclimatization in coral larvae (Putnam and Gates, 2015) I was hooked on coral microbiology. I realised the importance of further research in this area to improve the understanding of coral-bacteria interactions and consequently how this might help us globally conserve reefs threatened by climate change.
